A new survey found that Americans are full of surprises when it comes to their favorite sides.
The results have been summarized in a map of Americans' favorite Thanksgiving sides by state that you can find below.
To draw this map, Zippia used Google trends to find the preferences of Americans across more than 20 traditional side dishes.
Although not a perfect system it clearly shows US culinary trends:
- Mashed potatoes are the number one choice (favorite in 10 states)
- Mac ‘n cheese are number two (favorite in 7 states)
- The other top contenders are green bean casserole, rolls, and stuffing.
