Hello and welcome to MotherOfHealth where we are dedicated to helping you find fresh ideas and natural solutions for living a long, healthy life without the need for prescription drugs.
The name MotherOfHealth came from the mother of all healing, Ayurveda's tagline.
I've been learning and practicing the great principles of Ayurveda and natural healing now for more than 20+ years.
Ayurveda believes health is not an accident, and being healthy is primarily our own responsibility.

Our Team
I'm Jackie Parker, the Primary Editor for MotherOfHealth.
I grew up on the south shore of Lake Superior.
Living side by side with dense pine forests and the largest body of freshwater gave me a deep love of natural beauty and mother nature.
Health and wellness came in stages for me.
Because Northern Michigan winters tend to be long, and the growing season short, there was a shortage of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Consequently, I entered adult life with habits that were not so great for long-term health.
At the time, I thought I was relatively healthy but whenever someone in our home came down with anything, I'd get it next.
Colds, flu, sore throats and even pneumonia were regular imbalances I dealt with every winter. In fact, my family often referred to me as “Bambi” because they saw me as delicate or fragile. And then…
In 1999, I began to study holistic health and Ayurveda. I was looking for a natural way to navigate through menopause, help my daughter with her allergies, and prevent chronic illnesses that most people deal with by middle age.
Most of all, I didn’t want to be dependent on prescription medications in my golden years.
In 2000 my late sister and I enrolled at the California College of Ayurveda in Grass Valley, CA, and life began to shift toward alternative medicine, natural remedies, aromatherapy, detoxing, and holistic lifestyles.
It was a transformational time, and I quickly began to share what I was learning with family, friends, and other people that had the same desire to live better.
I've authored and co-authored hundreds of detailed wellness-related articles, creating a huge knowledge base of information related to food, nutrition, and holistic lifestyles.
It seems like I've always had an interest in personal development. I love to learn, be curious, and have a love of books. I'm a writer, researcher, friend, sister, seeker, yogi, coach, auntie, mother, wife, and grandmother (in no particular order).
These days I homestead on one acre in Ojai, California with my husband, daughter, son-in-law, and their two small boys. We also care for two Toy Poodles, a German Shepard, a cat, three chickens, and a garden.
