I'm Jackie Parker.
I had the great good fortune of growing up on the south shore of Lake Superior.
Living side by side with dense pine forests and the largest body of fresh water gave me a deep love of natural beauty and mother nature. Access to wilderness was everywhere and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Health and wellness came in stages for me. Because Northern Michigan winters tend to be long, and growing seasons short, there was a shortage of fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits, so I entered adult life with habits that were not so great for long-term health.
At the time, I thought I was relatively healthy, but whenever someone in our house came down with anything, I'd get it next. Colds, flu, sore throats and even pneumonia were regular imbalances I dealt with every winter. In fact, my family often referred to me as “Bambi” because they saw me as delicate or fragile.
In 1999, I began to study holistic health and Ayurveda. I was looking for a natural way to navigate through menopause, help my daughter with her allergies, and prevent chronic illnesses that most people deal with by middle age. Most of all, I didn’t want to be dependent on prescription medications in my golden years.
In 2000 my sister and I enrolled at the California College of Ayurveda in Grass Valley, CA, and my life began to shift toward alternative medicine, natural remedies, aromatherapy, detox and holistic lifestyles.
It was a transformational time, and I quickly began to share what I was learning with family, friends and other people that had the same desire to live better.
I've authored and co-authored hundreds of detailed health-related articles, creating a huge knowledge base of information related to food, nutrition, and holistic lifestyles. My mission is to share the best information about natural health so you can empower you to make positive changes in your health and be environmentally sensitive.
It seems like I've always had an interest in personal development. I love to learn…and love books. I'm a writer, researcher, friend, sister, seeker, yogi, coach, auntie, mother, wife, and grandmother (in no particular order).
Mother Of Health
The name Mother Of Health came from the mother of all healing, Ayurveda's tagline. Ayurveda is known as the mother of all healing because it's considered the oldest form of health care in the world. Some scholars say it's at least 5000 years old.
This ancient healing system teaches you nature's great principles of natural living. The emphasis in Ayurveda and healing through natural remedies is on self-care. Being healthy is primarily our own responsibility. If we are not healthy, it may be our own fault… At least to some degree. Mother Of Health is dedicated to helping you deeply connect with the feminine, intuitive methods of self-care.
My mission here is to deliver basic health and hygiene habits, natural health remedies and health-giving recipes to as many people as possible that want to live a long, healthy life without the need for prescription drugs.
And I love getting feedback and supporting you with anything I can. Do leave me a comment if you have something to share, and ask me a question anytime, or just say “hi”!
