How to Eat and Live the Ayurvedic Way for a Healthy Life
Visible acne is troubling… Especially breakouts on your face! Depending on your body type it could look swollen, raw, and angry. For others, it's pussy pimples, nodules, and cysts. Fortunately, you can heal with these skin care tips for acne using the wisdom of Ayurveda.

Here you'll discover:

What Exactly is Acne?

Acne is an inflammatory skin condition. It's not dangerous, but it can leave scars. It happens when hair follicles get blocked with Sebum and build-up under the skin. In other words, acne is the inflammation of the oil glands under the skin. It occurs when the pores of your skin clog up with too much oil and dead skin cells and become infected.

Generally speaking, acne affects the face, back, and shoulders because of a high concentration of sebaceous glands. As a result, acne presents either as pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, or nodules.

Causes of Acne According to Ayurveda

1. Fried and junk food – leads to overheated blood

2. Insufficient sleep – upsets normal body rhythm leading to toxins and acne

3. Over usage of cosmetics – direct impact on skin

4. Stress and anxiety – leading to metabolism imbalance and toxins

5. Physiological changes taking place during adolescence – attributed to hormonal imbalance

6. Excess intake of red meat

7. Liver Toxicity – We live in a world that is chock-full of toxins. Be it in the air we breathe, our food, our water… So much so that their entrance into our bodies has become unavoidable.

Ayurvedic View of Acne

According to Ayurveda, your skin reflects what's happening on the inside. For example, acne is just a reflection of a heated imbalance in Pitta dosha. (Humor that symbolizes heat or fire.)

Ayurveda makes the connection between acne, poor digestion and a build-up of toxicity. In other words, due to poor digestion, improper food or lifestyle, toxic heat manifests in the skin tissue and causes acne.

Which is why Ayurveda stresses the importance of detoxification if you want clear, blemish-free skin.

Unfortunately, acne is deep-rooted, so the use of creams, antibiotics, and lotions only mask the symptoms.

You must get to the root of the imbalance if you want to heal for all-time. This is why topical remedies can only take you so far. So, I want to show you how you can get to the root of your imbalance through diet, lifestyle, and herbs to bring Pitta dosha back into balance.

Pitta Dosha

Summer is the season of heat and when Pitta dosha accumulates in your body. Especially if you already have a lot of Pitta (fire) in your constitution.
If you don't know your body type or understand which dosha is the driving force behind your acne… Find out here:

Doshas

  • Vata is the dosha of Air and Space. Its qualities are dry and cold
  • Pitta is Fire and Water. Its qualities are heat and intensity
  • Kapha is the pairing of Earth and Water. Its qualities are heavy and slow.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, it is predominantly Pitta dosha that causes acne. As you will see, acne is an over-heated imbalance in the body.

But the good news is, Ayurveda recognizes you can heal with simple diet and lifestyle changes. So let's look at Ayurveda's skin care tips for acne now.

Here are some of the most recommended herbs for acne. As a side note, you can find more natural remedies for acne here.

Neem

Is one of the most well-known and powerful blood purifiers. It cools and clears the toxins involved in most inflammatory skin diseases. In a medicated oil, it's one of the best healing and disinfectant herbs for skin diseases.

Turmeric

Turmeric works on many levels. First off, it helps to strengthen digestion (good digestion is the key to health)… But at the same time, it's a good antibacterial and purifies the blood. Turmeric is a tonic to the skin and helps to bring luster to the face by reducing the oily nature of the skin. I suggest you take turmeric internally and also use it topically.

Shatavari

Shatavari is a form of asparagus and is the main Ayurvedic rejuvenating tonic for women because it balances the hormones. The main reason for acne is a hormonal imbalance.
